Natural, Documentary Style Wedding photography in Wiltshire
Capturing Lauren and Patrick's wedding was an absolute joy. Their day was set across three beautiful locations, beginning with the bridal party preparations at the School House in Carlton, an Airbnb gem with plenty of space and a charming garden perfect for those intimate pre-wedding shots. From there, it was a short walk to St John the Baptist Church, a stunning Norman building. As a London-based documentary wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of working in many venues, but this church stood out for both its beauty and the warmth of the vicar.
After the ceremony, we took a brief stroll to the family home where the reception was held. The personal touch of hosting the celebration at home, complete with a gorgeous marquee, created such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It’s these kinds of weddings that I love the most, where every detail feels truly personal and meaningful. If you’re looking for a wedding venue with a personal touch, this kind of set-up is a brilliant idea.
"Choosing a photographer for your special day is never an easy task, often judging simply by pictures on websites. Having seen Gary's work and sharing it with my husband, we loved his natural approach. Gary is friendly, professional and has a great sense of humour. He put us at complete ease and we'd made the right decision. Particularly when my videographer cancelled 30 mins before she was meant to arrive, he assured me his photos would be all we needed, and he was right. Eternally grateful, thank you."

Beautiful Wedding Photos for People who don't like to pose
Lauren and Patrick’s request for mostly candid shots played right into my style. They weren’t keen on posing, which I completely understand. In fact, it’s what I specialise in—taking beautiful, natural pictures of people who don’t like to pose. Even with just five minutes at the School House before heading to the church, I managed to capture some stunning portraits of Lauren. You can see how radiant and relaxed she looks, and that’s the essence of candid wedding photography.
We had another brief moment for photos during the short walk from the church to the reception. Lauren and Patrick look so natural and unposed, which perfectly reflects their easy-going nature. It proves that you don’t need hours to get beautiful wedding photos—sometimes it’s those in-between moments that are the most special.
Despite a last-minute cancellation by their videographer, which could’ve caused some real stress, we adapted. I assured Lauren that the photos would more than make up for it, and in the end, they were thrilled with their pictures and the slideshow I created for them. It’s always rewarding when couples love the results, especially when they reflect the genuine emotions of the day.
If you’re planning your wedding and looking for a photographer who captures the real moments, someone who understands the flow of the day and won’t ask you to pose endlessly, I’d love to be a part of your story. Whether it's a church like St John the Baptist or a reception at home, my goal is always the same—to capture genuine emotions and create lasting memories.
