At Home with Joe PeTtitt
Renowned bass player Joe Pettitt welcomed me into his family seaside home in Pevensey Bay for a recent photoshoot, offering a glimpse into his life away from the spotlight. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of his non-stop schedule of performances and teaching, Joe's home is a seaside sanctuary.
Joe stands as one of the country's most sought-after bass players. His impressive repertoire includes collaborations with iconic artists such as Burt Bacharach, Michael Feinstein, and Noel Gallagher, among others. Beyond solo performances his orchestral work includes ensembles like the Royal Philharmonic and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Joe also runs the LP Swing Orchestra and if you've been to any of their concerts you may have met the rest of the family. The boys, Henry and Felix are of course, learning music for themselves. Joe takes joy in nurturing his their musical talents even if things get a bit noisy sometimes!
As a photographer with a background in portraiture and street photography, I am driven by curiosity to capture the essence of my subjects. The At Home series offers a unique opportunity to peel back the layers and reveal the authentic stories behind the public personas of individuals I deeply admire.
Each photoshoot is a testament to the trust and generosity of those who welcome me into their private spaces, allowing me to document genuine moments and unveil the intricacies of their lives. Unlike the frenetic pace of wedding photography, these sessions afford me the luxury of time to forge meaningful connections with my subjects and explore creative avenues.
