Coronation Street Party in London

Bringing the community together

One of the best things to come out of the coronation of King Charles was all the street parties held in his honour. Of course, I photographed the one closest to my beloved Camden Passage.

Street parties in the UK have a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Originally organized to celebrate royal events, they later became a way to foster community spirit during times of hardship, such as World War II. These days we don’t see them very often, which is a shame because they’re a lovely way to bring neighbors together, fostering unity and celebration.
