A Beautiful Old Marylebone Town Hall Wedding for Ako and Shane
Ako and Shane’s wedding at Old Marylebone Town Hall was a small, relaxed celebration that brought together two families from very different parts of the world. Ako’s roots are in Japan and Shane’s are in Ireland, with London now being an important part of their story together. With just 14 guests at the ceremony, it felt personal from the start, with plenty of laughter, a few emotional moments and one very important guest – Ponzu, their gorgeous dog.
After the preparations, we took a short cab ride to Old Marylebone Town Hall for the ceremony in the Pimlico Room. As a documentary wedding photographer at Old Marylebone Town Hall, it’s always great to have the opportunity to make the most of the building and the surrounding streets. Even with the town hall busy with other weddings, we had plenty of time for confetti, group photographs and some lovely natural portraits on the famous steps.
From the town hall to Blandford Street
After the ceremony, we headed to Clarette on Blandford Street for an intimate wedding breakfast before moving on to the Sir John Balcombe for the evening. There was plenty of time for photographs along the way, including some fun moments in the streets and, of course, plenty of photos with Ponzu. The day had exactly the right balance of emotion, fun and genuine moments, which is what makes being a Natural wedding photographer so rewarding.
There was no need for elaborate posing or constantly stopping the day for photographs. Ako and Shane were able to enjoy themselves while I photographed what was happening around them. That approach is at the heart of Beautiful photos for people who won’t like to pose. Looking back at the photographs, you can see the connection between them, their families and friends, and just how much everyone enjoyed being there to celebrate together.
