Morden Park House is a calm, elegant wedding venue tucked away in the green heart of South West London and is perfect for wedding photography. It offers a rare combination of historic character and a genuinely relaxed atmosphere, which is why it works so well for couples who want their wedding day to feel personal rather than rushed (as can happen at some busy Town Halls). As a photographer, I’ve photographed many weddings at Morden Park House and it’s always a pleasure to return.
Morden Park House is often confused with Morden Hall, which is another venue located nearby. They are completely separate venues, both lovely in their own right, and both places where I photograph regularly. It’s worth making sure your guests are very clear that your wedding is taking place at Morden Park House, as it’s surprisingly easy for people to head to the wrong location if they’re not paying attention. I’ve even known suppliers turn up at the wrong venue before and have to make a quick dash across the park!
Getting married at Morden Park House feels calm and unhurried, which is one of the reasons it works so well. The Georgian architecture, tree-lined approach and peaceful setting give the venue a timeless feel, and everything about it encourages couples to slow down and enjoy the moment. In season there are gorgeous blooms wisteria on the front of the house forming a lovely backdrop for your photos.
The day flows easily between indoors and outdoors. After the ceremony, it’s just a few steps into the gardens for relaxed, natural backdrops for photos. From a photography point of view, Morden Park House is ideal — the light is soft, the surroundings are uncluttered, and there’s no pressure to rush. That’s when the most natural photographs tend to happen.
My whole approach to wedding photography is summed up in one line: beautiful photos for people who don’t like to pose. I focus on real moments as they naturally unfold rather than staging or directing them, so you can enjoy your day fully — the people, the atmosphere, the small in-between moments — while I quietly observe and capture it all in a natural, honest way, without awkward posing or constant interruption.
I’m calm and unobtrusive, blending in more like a guest than a photographer, and I only step in when it’s genuinely helpful to offer a bit of gentle guidance. This is your wedding day, not a photoshoot — you’ll still get beautiful images, just without being constantly prompted. My priority is that you and your guests feel relaxed and present, and that when you look back at your photos, they bring the day flooding back just as it happened.
If I could give Gary more than 5 stars I would. He is a true legend. He is full of charisma, efficiency and patience. He's worked against the clock to get our photos in incredible timing after our wedding. Gary got so many candid shots, he was a ninja- we didn't notice him there for some wonderful wholesome and pivotal moments. He also managed to get amazingly beautiful photos with fading daylight and with many groups to get through. I couldn't have asked for more and he made me feel very calm, special and comfortable. We are both so thankful to you Gary!

Morden Park House has bags of period character (think Bridgerton) with large sash windows and soft natural light that give ceremonies a calm, elegant feel and translate very naturally into wedding photography. There are several ceremony options to choose from, depending on the style and size of your wedding. Let's dig into those now.
The Sheridan Room is a bright, airy ceremony space at Morden Park House and works beautifully for intimate wedding photography. Decorated in soft white and silver tones, it feels calm and elegant without being formal, and stays light and welcoming all year round.
French windows open directly onto the park, making it easy to step outside straight after the ceremony. The room sits at the front of the house, and once you’re married it’s only a short walk to the central staircase, which is a lovely spot for a few relaxed photographs before heading into the gardens.
Capacity: 30 guests
Style: Bright and intimate
Aisle: Yes, but limited
Pet-friendly: Yes
The Sheridan Room
The Lord Nelson Room is a lovely mid-sized ceremony space at Morden Park House and works well for couples who want something elegant without it feeling too formal. Decorated in pale lemon and soft blue tones, it has a warm, welcoming feel that suits weddings of around 40–50 guests and photographs really well.
Georgian bay windows look out over the private courtyard, bringing in plenty of natural light, while the crystal chandelier adds a sense of occasion without overpowering the room.
From a photography point of view, it’s a very easy space to work in with lots of flattering light. After the ceremony, the central staircase is reserved exclusively for the couple, which makes it a great spot for relaxed, just-married photos before heading outside.
Capacity: 50 guests
Style: Elegant, light-filled and classic
Aisle: Yes
Pet-friendly: No
The Lord Nelson Room
The Ewart Room is the largest ceremony space at Morden Park House and sits at the top of the impressive central staircase. It’s a grand room, but still very much in keeping with the character of the house, making it a good choice for couples planning a larger wedding without losing that sense of intimacy.
Decorated in cream and deep purple tones, with bronze chandeliers and rich draped curtains, the room has a luxurious feel without being over the top and works well in photos. There’s plenty of space for live music, such as a string quartet, which can really add to the atmosphere during the ceremony.
Afterwards, the couple are given a few quiet moments together to use the central staircase and hallway for photographs, before emerging from the front entrance for confetti and group shots against the backdrop of Morden Park House.
Capacity: 100 guests
Style: Grand, elegant and historic
Aisle: Yes
Pet-friendly: No

The Courtyard at Morden Park House offers the option of an outdoor wedding ceremony under a handmade wooden gazebo, set within beautifully manicured grounds. It sounds lovely and it is! I think it's special to have that country house feel to a wedding so close to the city and it's great for summer photos.
The walk to the gazebo through a series of trellised arches makes a lovely entrance, and the surrounding greenery creates a calm, romantic setting. From a photography point of view, it works beautifully — the light, space and natural backdrop make photos feel relaxed and unforced.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, a suitable room in the house will be made available, with the final decision taken by the registrar on the day. Couples can also choose to use the courtyard for a drinks reception or continue celebrations in the permanent marquee.
Capacity: 100 guests
Style: Outdoor, romantic and garden-led
Availability: Thursday to Sunday between May and September
Aisle: Yes
Pet-friendly: Yes

Yes, but only outside. This is done outside the front of the house.
Most ceremonies last around 20–30 minutes, depending on how personalised they are.
Yes. It’s a legal requirement to bring two adult witnesses who can understand the ceremony. The venue team can’t act as witnesses. If you’re having a very small wedding, I’m happy to step in as a witness if needed.
Yes. The couple can bring ceremonial cars through the barrier to park close to the building, which is helpful for arrivals and post-ceremony photos. Guests should use the main pay-and-display car park nearby.
Yes. You can get married at Morden Park House regardless of where you live. The only requirement is that you give notice of marriage at your local register office.
Room capacities are fixed due to fire and safety regulations and can’t be exceeded. All guests must be seated. The couple, the registrars, one photographer, and children under two aren’t included in the maximum guest numbers. Any extra guests will need to wait outside during the ceremony.
No. The Courtyard and Gazebo are reserved exclusively for couples who have booked those spaces. If you’ve booked an indoor room, you’ll still have plenty of great photo opportunities on the central staircase and outside the front of the house. Likewise, couples marrying outdoors won’t usually be able to take photos inside unless the ceremony moves indoors due to bad weather.
Yes. A drinks toast in the garden is available after the ceremony, subject to availability. In poor weather this may take place in the marquee. If you’ve booked another room inside Morden Park House, a drinks reception may also be possible depending on availability. Garden drinks here work particularly well for relaxed, natural photographs as guests mingle.
Yes, absolutely. The legal wording does need to be included, but you’re encouraged to personalise your ceremony with readings, personal vows and music. I’ve photographed everything here from cultural traditions and unity ceremonies to relaxed singalongs, and those personal touches always come through beautifully in the photos. Religious content isn’t permitted, as Morden Park House is a civil venue.
You’ll usually be asked to arrive around 15 minutes before your ceremony for your pre-ceremony interview. If you’d prefer not to see each other beforehand, the registrars can interview you separately and keep you apart until the ceremony begins. From a photography point of view, this often works really well and allows for a lovely first-look moment as one of you enters the room. For such a special day, I always think it’s best if everyone arrives a little early so nothing feels rushed.
Dogs are allowed in certain circumstances. If your ceremony is in the Sheridan Room or outdoors in the Gazebo, you may bring one well-trained dog that belongs to you. Dogs aren’t permitted in the Lord Nelson or Ewart Rooms. If a gazebo ceremony moves indoors due to weather, your dog will need to stay outside with an assigned guest. Assistance animals are always permitted. Dogs at weddings always make for great photos — just saying.
One of the many benefits of getting married at Morden Park House is how easily everything flows. You can have your entire day — ceremony, drinks, and reception — all in one location, thanks to the on-site marquee tucked within the private walled garden. But if you're after a more customised or restaurant-based reception, Morden and nearby areas offer some lovely alternatives just a short drive or walk away.
The permanent marquee is ideal if you want your guests to stay in one place. It’s fully kitted out with a licensed bar and PA system, tables, chairs, and decor flexibility. If you are planning on having external caterers come in they will be able to set up a field kitchen.
It feels private and intimate, with space for up to 100 guests, and no need to stress about transport or time gaps between ceremony and reception. Keeping everything on site really can help the day to run smoothly and stress free.
Morden Park House is well-located and accessible for guests traveling from all over London: It's just a 7-minute walk from Morden Underground Station (Northern Line)) and there are multiple bus routes stopping nearby,
There’s limited on-site parking for key guests, and public car parks nearby. If you’re arriving in a wedding car, the venue team can arrange front-door access. And if you're planning to leave for an off-site reception, transport options are simple and stress-free — even for larger groups.
If you want to keep it truly local, supporting nearby businesses can add a meaningful, personal touch to your Morden Park wedding. While Morden is quieter than central London, it has some lovely hidden gems — and nearby Wimbledon and Tooting offer even more options just a short drive away.
For bridalwear, Teokath of London in Wimbledon Village is a fantastic boutique and over in central Wimbledon you'll find TDR Bridal.
When it comes to flowers (always good in photos), The Flower Sanctuary in Balham is a local go-to and just over in Wimbledon, Wimbledon Flowers delivers everything from timeless bouquets to bold floral displays.
I’ve photographed at Morden Park many times and know the area well — so if you need any more help please just let me know.
Gary is an absolute super star! I knew Gary would be great as he captured my friend's wedding, and I'm so glad we went with him too. From the first conversation, Gary was so helpful and explained how the day would look. He helped us plan our timeline which was great. On the day, he was such a star - calm when I was running late, got us back on track. He made the guests laugh and feel at ease, as well as giving direction for the bigger moments. He captured the fun of our day and all the little details. We are so pleased with the photos and he sent them to us a lot quicker than I expected! I would recommend Gary 100% and it was a joy to have him with us for our day.

Morden Park House sits within the wider landscape of Morden Park, an area that was once part of a large country estate on the edge of London. Long before it became a wedding venue, Morden Park House was a Georgian manor surrounded by farmland and open parkland, designed as a private residence rather than a civic building. That origin still shapes how weddings feel here today.
Unlike many London wedding venues, Morden Park House doesn’t feel urban or busy. The setting is green, spacious and quiet, which immediately changes the pace of a wedding day. Couples often comment on how removed it feels from London, even though it’s surprisingly well connected. That sense of calm is one of the reasons wedding photography here feels so natural — there’s space to breathe, walk and enjoy the moment without interruptions.
The park itself plays a big role in the photography at Morden Park House. Tree-lined paths, open lawns, the rose-filled courtyard and the gazebo all sit just a few steps from the ceremony rooms. From a photography point of view, it means wedding photographs can unfold gradually rather than being rushed from one backdrop to the next. The house acts as a strong visual anchor, while the park softens everything around it.
What makes weddings at Morden Park House so appealing is that balance between history and ease. The building brings a sense of heritage and occasion, while the surrounding park keeps everything relaxed and informal. For couples who want wedding photography that feels genuine, unposed and rooted in the place they chose to get married, Morden Park House offers something quietly special.
I focus on simple London weddings for couples who want natural, relaxed photos with no awkward posing. You want to enjoy your day and have fun with your guests without camera in your face. Of course you want beautiful photos but they should happen naturally. First and foremost this is your wedding day - it's not a photoshoot. I’m calm, unobtrusive, and always on hand to guide you when it’s genuinely helpful.
Gary's services were truly phenomenal. He went above and beyond for us and became a beacon of our wedding experience. His knowledge and experience made us feel comfortable and his vision and direction gave us a clear outline of the day and that was a pillar of us having an incredible wedding experience. That is all on top of his incredible photography skills. Every single photo he took was radiating with emotion and beautiful memories that were taken in a candid way. The variety of photographic styles we received showed us only a facet of Gary's wide and diverse skill set. Each moment he captured added to the perfect collection to commemorate our special day. Thank you Gary for everything you did for us, we will never forget this day and now have the perfect collection of images to look back on over the years and reminisce.
