St Albans Registry Office Wedding Photography with A Reception at The Hub on Verulam
I always love the chance to photograph a wedding in St Albans. It’s one of those towns that has loads of character without trying too hard. I used to live just down the road in Berkhamsted, so I know the area well, and it’s always nice coming back as a documentary wedding photographer at St Albans Registry Office.
One of the best things about getting married at St Albans Registry Office is how relaxed everything feels. They only host one wedding at a time, which makes such a difference. Having photographed plenty of London registry office weddings where four or five ceremonies are happening at once, it’s refreshing to have space to breathe. It means there’s actually time for confetti, group shots outside the town hall and a few quiet moments without being rushed from one thing to the next. Perfect for beautiful photos for people who won’t like to pose.
A relaxed wedding at The Hub on Verulam
After an emotional ceremony, with more than a few tears from Caleb, we spent a little time in the gardens next to the town hall for some relaxed portraits before everyone jumped on a bus over to The Hub on Verulam. I’ve photographed weddings there before and it’s easily one of my favourite venues to work at as a documentary wedding photographer at The Hub on Verulam. It has such a different feel to most wedding venues and always feels really personal.
Imogen and Caleb mentioned beforehand that they wanted a photo in the venue’s private cinema room, which immediately sounded fun to me. I brought along a couple of lights and we created a shot of them completely absorbed in a film together. Those little creative ideas are always good fun and keep me on my toes a bit. The weather was perfect too, so everyone spent most of the afternoon outside enjoying the barbecue, speeches and sunshine before heading back inside for cake and a packed dance floor. A genuinely lovely day from start to finish and exactly the kind of wedding I love photographing as a natural wedding photographer.
