The perfect Autumn Day Wedding

Linda and Josue’s wedding was a beautiful testament to love that stands the test of time. Thirteen years ago, they met in Spain, and since then, their journey has led them to a new life in the UK, where they've shared countless moments and now, a new chapter, alongside their one-year-old daughter, Olivia. Documenting their special day as a London based documentary wedding photographer was an absolute joy.

The wedding at Islington Town Hall had that unique charm that comes from people coming together across languages and cultures. With guests speaking English, Spanish, and Polish, the day was full of chatter, laughter, and connections being formed. Multilingual weddings have this wonderful energy where, despite the language differences, the emotions are universal. Documentary wedding photography truly shines in moments like these—capturing the smiles, the hugs, and those little candid conversations that transcend words.

Room 99 at Islington Town hall

The ceremony took place in Room 99, one of my favourite rooms at Islington Town Hall. Afterward, we were fortunate enough to find the grand stairway free for a few moments. On a busy Saturday, that’s no easy feat! Naturally, we seized the opportunity for a quick photo session on the staircase, which was a lovely little interlude before heading outside for a fabulous confetti shower, with petals filling the air and adding that perfect celebratory touch.

Linda and Josue wisely chose Mr LoBo, a South American restaurant just across the road from the town hall, as the next spot for their celebration. It was an ideal choice, especially for the many Latin guests, who seemed to feel right at home there. While the guests settled in with drinks and conversation, I had a chance to whisk Linda and Josue away for a relaxed photo shoot in the surrounding streets of Islington. Those moments were some of the highlights for me—just the two of them, amidst the vibrant streets, sharing genuine moments of joy and laughter. We were particularly blessed with wonderful sunny weather, something that doesn’t always happen in London at this time of year, and it made the photos shine.

Olivia, Linda and Josue's one-year-old daughter, was such a star of the day. I always love photographing children at weddings; they bring spontaneity and joy that adds a fresh element to the celebration. Olivia was no different, clearly enjoying every moment of the day, and her curiosity about the camera made for some of my favourite shots. She wasn’t just a bystander—she was part of every moment, her laughter and wide-eyed wonder bringing warmth to the entire day. Candid wedding photography is all about those unplanned moments, and Olivia’s presence ensured there were plenty.
