Getting Married at St Margaret's Church in Putney

Weddings are a celebration of love, connection and shared joy, and Nicole and Ashley’s special day embodied all of that and more. Photographing their wedding at St Margaret’s Church in Putney and their reception at The Bull’s Head in Barnes was an absolute pleasure, filled with laughter, personal touches, and heartfelt moments. You'd expect me to say that for ever wedding I photograph but this one really was special.

The day began at the peaceful St Margaret’s Church, a beautiful spot tucked away on a quiet lane in Putney. Nicole and Ashley chose this church because it’s local to them and holds a special connection to their life together. It was here that their beloved rescue dog, Jazz, made a memorable appearance. With his three legs and boundless energy, Jazz melted everyone’s hearts, a testament to the couple’s warm and loving nature. Thanks to the vicar, Brutus, Jazz was an integral part of the ceremony, and you could see how much he means to Nicole and Ashley—it was as if he’d been with them forever.

"These photos are incredible. You've got everyone in the family crying. This is a gallery of absolute magic. We couldn't be happier, thank you so much! You have no idea what these mean to us and the family."

Sunshine on a rainy day!

The weather threatened rain all day, but we caught a lucky break for the confetti moment. The drizzle couldn’t dampen the energy, and indoors, I had the chance to get creative with lighting. One of my favourite shots from the day was a romantic portrait of Nicole and Ashley, glowing as though bathed in sunset light—even though the skies outside were grey. Moments like these are why I love wedding photography. It’s about adapting to the day, being creative in the moment and finding beauty in every situation.

After the ceremony, the reception at The Bull’s Head in Barnes was the perfect setting for the celebration to continue. With its lively atmosphere and riverside charm, it gave a warm and relaxed vibe.

A modern day love story

Nicole and Ashley’s story is one of perseverance, humour, and love. They met at medical school and were housemates in Putney, their friendship growing over time until Ashley finally convinced Nicole to go on a date. Their proposal story is a testament to their dynamic: Nicole proposed to Ashley, and he’s vowed to tease her about it forever! Through shared adventures, pandemic challenges, and setting up their home together, their bond has only strengthened.

Every detail of their day reflected their personalities, from Nicole’s stunning dress and veil to their shared love of their local area. It was a day that celebrated not only their love for each other but also the life they’ve built together.

Watch The Photo Film

I usually make my couples a slideshow of some of the day's highlights. I prefer to call it a Photo Film because, carefully set to music, I think they really tell the story of the day. They are a lovely way to relive the key moments.
