Gill & Paul’s Romantic Wedding Photography at The Farmhouse in Hitchin
Gill and Paul’s wedding at The Farmhouse at Redcoats was one of those days that just felt good from the start. There was a genuine warmth to it all — two people completely right for each other, surrounded by family and friends who clearly adore them. After an impromptu "first look" before they met with the registrars, they walked down the aisle together to a room full of happy faces.
The barn at Redcoats is a brilliant space — full of light and character. The team there really look after every detail. I’ve never seen so much care go into setting up a room. Watching the staff iron tablecloths before the place settings went down tells you everything you need to know. It’s a proper, well-run venue that still feels relaxed. A joy to work at as a documentary wedding photographer at The Farmhouse at Redcoats.
A day full of laughter, tears and a Very Happy dog
The whole day had this lovely rhythm — from the emotional ceremony to Paul’s twist on his speech where he sang his own version of I’d Do Anything to Gill. It was heartfelt and surprisingly tuneful (well, "ish"). His son Gary, the best man, also managed to keep it together, just about, which was impressive given how much love there was in the room.
As a natural wedding photographer, what I look for is connection. This day had loads of it. Even their cavapoo turned up, which made my afternoon. I get asked a lot about how to get beautiful photos for people who don’t like to pose — and honestly, weddings like this are the answer. When you feel comfortable and you're surrounded by people who matter, the photos take care of themselves. A great day at a standout venue, with two brilliant people at the centre of it.
"Our wedding photographs were fabulous. Gary spoke to us more than once before our wedding day so he could understand what we wanted to portray throughout the photographs. He has given us a wonderful reminder of our day without being intrusive. I could not fault his approach and his photographs have received great compliments from our family and friends. We would certainly give him 10 out of 10 and would not hesitate to recommend him to make memories of your special day."

Watch The Photo Film
I usually make my couples a slideshow of some of the day's highlights. I prefer to call it a Photo Film because, carefully set to music, I think they really tell the story of the day. They are a lovely way to relive the key moments.
