Room 99 at Islington Town Hall
Amber and Alex’s wedding at Islington Town Hall was one of those days where everything just clicked. The weather turned up, the couple were easy-going, and their families brought a real sense of occasion – some had travelled from the other side of the world to be there. You could feel how much it meant to everyone, and that kind of energy always makes for a brilliant day to photograph.
They’d told me early on that they weren’t the most comfortable in front of the camera. That’s really common, and totally fine. Most people don’t like posing, which is why I don’t make them! I keep it simple and natural, just letting things happen and being ready when they do. And, just like I’ve seen so many times before, they relaxed into it almost straight away. I love the photo below and it'a a good example of capturing a moment, in this case, right after they left the ceremony room as husband and wife.

The walk from ceremony to reception
The ceremony was in Room 99 at Islington Town Hall – a great space with lovely light. After the confetti and a few group shots on the steps, we didn’t rush. Guests made their way to Frederick’s in Camden Passage, and I took a slow walk in the same direction with Amber and Alex. No awkward posing, just a chance for them to chat and enjoy a few quiet minutes together. I captured them along the way, using some of my favourite local backdrops from this neighbourhood I’ve lived in for over two decades.
If you’re looking for beautiful photos but you don’t love the idea of posing, you’re not alone. Most of my couples feel exactly the same. As a natural wedding photographer and documentary wedding photographer at Islington Town Hall, I aim to make the whole experience easy and enjoyable. Amber and Alex’s day was a perfect example of that – relaxed, real, and full of joy. Beautiful photos for people who don’t like to pose.

I also made one of my Retro Wedding Films for Amber and Alex. They are short, nostalgic videos shot alongside your photography, inspired by the golden age of VHS tapes and camcorders. Think soft-focus memories, tape hiss, and that warm fuzzy feeling of the 80s and 90s. No film crew, no drama—just a fun, heartfelt throwback that captures the joy of your day in a way that’s full of character.
