Capturing the Magnificence of the Brighton Royal Pavilion

Victoria and Paul’s wedding at the Brighton Royal Pavilion was a day that perfectly combined elegance, fun, and a touch of the unexpected. This remarkable venue, with its jaw-dropping interiors like the famous music room, provided a stunning backdrop for their big day. As a London-based documentary wedding photographer, I was thrilled to be part of such a unique celebration in this iconic Brighton setting.

Victoria and Paul’s story is just as special as the day itself. Their love for Brighton played a huge role in their choice of venue. While they were dating Paul whisked Victoria away for a weekend here, and the Pavilion’s charm left a lasting impression on them both.

A wedding Car with a Difference

The day began at the Malmaison on Brighton’s waterfront. With adjacent suites for their final preparations, the atmosphere was relaxed and full of excitement. Victoria’s arrival at the Pavilion in a vintage VW Camper Van named Candy was an absolute highlight. It came complete with delightful details like Prosecco served in mini vintage milk bottles, setting the tone for a day full of thoughtful touches.

"Look no further than Gary as your wedding photographer! We couldn't be happier with our photos.
We couldn't be happier with our photos. As a couple, we don't feel comfortable posing for photos, Gary made us feel at ease, he blended in with our guests and that has resulted in some amazing photos. Also a photo reel was ready the next day and all our photos available within a week! The photos we have from our special day are amazing."

Brighton Royal Pavilion's Red Room

The ceremony itself was held in the Pavilion’s red room—a stunning space that added warmth and intimacy to their humanist vows. Moving into the music room for photographs, I worked quickly to capture its ornate beauty without disrupting the flow of the day. Working in such a busy, open-to-the-public venue has its challenges, but the Pavilion staff were brilliant, and it all came together seamlessly.

Outside in the gardens, we made the most of Brighton’s vibrant atmosphere for some group shots and candid moments. A fantastic surprise came in the form of the Red Rebels performance artists, who happened to be passing by. Their dramatic red costumes were a perfect match for Victoria’s striking red hair, creating an impromptu photo opportunity that none of us could have planned better.

The Malmaison on the Waterfront for the Wedding Reception

The celebrations continued back at the Malmaison, where a relaxed buffet wedding breakfast brought everyone together. The day finished with the classic cake-cutting and first dance, with plenty of laughter and love filling the room.

It was a joy to capture Victoria and Paul’s day, with its mix of elegance, charm, and spontaneity.
