Helen & Dean’s Romantic Wedding at The Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich
Helen and Dean’s wedding at The Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich was a brilliant mix of romance, tradition and fun. They held their ceremony in the Nelson Room, surrounded by just 20 close family and friends, before moving next door for drinks and their wedding breakfast. The big windows in both rooms flood the space with natural light and offer beautiful views over the Thames — perfect for a natural wedding photographer.
What made their day even more special was knowing their story — they used to swim together when they were kids, then lost contact. Years later, they found each other again when both were divorced, and it went from there.
I love that The Trafalgar Tavern looks after everything so well, letting couples and guests relax and enjoy themselves. Helen and Dean kept the day simple and heartfelt, with a few family group shots before taking advantage of the balconies and river backdrop for some more relaxed portraits. After the meal, when the light had softened a bit, we took a short walk to the National Maritime Museum for some portraits. This spot works really well for beautiful photos for people who won’t like to pose — plenty of space, clean lines, and that stunning symmetry with the river in the background. We timed it perfectly so we were back just as the evening guests arrived and the first dance got underway.
It was a pleasure photographing Helen and Dean’s day.
