Perfect for Intimate weddings in Grand Style!
Photographing Bethany and Toby's wedding in The Angel Suite at Islington Town Hall was a truly unique experience. The Angel Suite is an exceptionally intimate space, designed to accommodate just six people. With the couple, two registrars, and two witnesses, there’s barely room for anyone else—except perhaps the photographer, who might even step in as one of the witnesses. That's exactly what I did for Bethany and Toby, making their ceremony feel even more personal.
Weddings in The Angel Suite are special because of their intimacy. The closeness of everyone in the room creates an atmosphere that's deeply emotional and full of genuine connection. I’ve photographed many weddings at Islington Town Hall, so I’ve got to know the registrars quite well. At one point during the ceremony, the registrar caught my eye and gave me a knowing wink, recognising the significance of the moment. The emotions in the room were palpable, with both Bethany and Toby needing tissues to dry their tears of joy. By the end, it wasn’t just the couple who were moved—everyone in the room felt the weight of the occasion.
"Gary photographed my wedding day and he absolutely amazing. Made me and my husband feel so incredibly relaxed and comfortable. He took so many beautiful photos - even better than I could’ve imagined and he turned them around so fast! 1000% recommend."
—Bethany (and Toby)
Bethany and Toby wisely chose a late afternoon ceremony. By 5 pm, the usual Saturday hustle had quietened down, giving us the freedom to enjoy the space without feeling rushed. This also allowed us to take full advantage of the beautiful light that filters through certain corners of the Town Hall. After the ceremony, we took a stroll down Upper Street, which is well known for its lively atmosphere, packed with bars and restaurants. I know the area well, having lived here for almost 20 years, so I was able to guide them to the perfect spots for some stunning photographs. We made the most of the late afternoon light before treating ourselves to ice cream from a local parlour.
Bethany and Toby aren’t from the area, so they asked me for recommendations on where to go for cocktails to celebrate their newlywed status. I suggested one of my favourite bars, The Little Bat. It’s a place I’ve enjoyed for years, and I knew it would be the perfect spot for them to continue their celebrations.
