Eric Yves Garcia - Capturing Charisma
I recently had the privilege of hosting the remarkable Eric Yves Garcia in my studio. As a London-based portrait photographer, I am always thrilled to work with individuals who have made a name for themselves in their respective fields and it was pleasure to welcome Eric, a renowned singer and pianist with a global presence.
Eric's career is nothing short of impressive. He's not just a singer and pianist; he's an award-winning artist who has left his mark in New York, London, and Paris. His accolades include the prestigious Margaret Whiting Award, a Bistro Award for Singer-Instrumentalist, and the recent honour of the Donald F. Smith Award, presented on the illustrious stage of Jazz at Lincoln Center.
The goal of our session was refreshingly simple. Eric was here to update his headshots, and it was a casual affair. There were no elaborate plans, no grand vision—just a desire for a few shots that would reflect the genuine essence of this multifaceted artist.
What makes this session stand out, however, is the relationship I've had the privilege of nurturing with Eric over the years. Knowing him well has been an invaluable asset when capturing his essence through the lens. I've had the opportunity to discover what makes him tick, to understand the intricacies of his character, and it's these very qualities I sought to unveil in my photographs. The ultimate objective was to have someone who knows Eric as intimately as I do look at these images and say, "Ah yes, that's captured him exactly!" This, for me, is always the ultimate goal—a testament to the connection I aim to forge with every subject.
What struck me as particularly intriguing during our session was the constraint of time. Eric was in London for a show, and we had a mere 15 minutes for this lightning-fast session. It was a challenge, but it underscored the importance of capturing the essence quickly and with precision. In those brief moments, I strived to encapsulate the charisma, talent, and authenticity that define Eric Yves Garcia.
As a London-based portrait photographer, I find immense joy in these brief yet meaningful encounters. Eric's session was a testament to the power of a shared history, the art of capturing authenticity, and the thrill of embracing a moment, however fleeting, to create lasting memories. If you're in search of a London headshot photographer who understands the art of capturing genuine emotions and creating lasting memories, look no further. I'd be delighted to bring your essence to life through the lens, just as I did for Eric Yves Garcia.
My background is in portraiture and street photography. I love trying to capture a person’s essence in a photograph. I am a curious person by nature and always want to know the real story, what a person is really like behind their public facade.
I photograph weddings to perfume bottles and everything in between, but my true passion is portrait photography. I just love it.
A portrait photoshoot gives me time to get to know my subject, try and bring out what makes them tick, and capture it in a single frame.
