Your Perfect Day from Start to Finish in Marylebone

Marylebone offers the perfect mix of timeless London charm and cosmopolitan style, making it a dream location for your wedding day. As someone who's photographed many weddings at Old Marylebone Town Hall, I never tire of its stunning Portland stone exterior, elegant ceremony rooms, and the buzz of Baker Street just around the corner. It’s a setting that feels both special and effortlessly London.

Ceremony Venue: Old Marylebone Town Hall

This iconic Grade II-listed building is beautifully restored and offers a range of ceremony rooms to suit every kind of wedding—from intimate elopements to larger gatherings. Whether you choose the grand Westminster Room for up to 100 guests or something smaller like the Paddington Room, each space has its own unique character. My personal favourite is the Soho Room—relaxed and charming, with soft tones and great natural light for photos.

The stone steps outside are a classic photo spot—especially for confetti tosses—while the area around Marylebone provides endless backdrops for portraits, from tree-lined streets and red brick townhouses to leafy corners of nearby Regent’s Park.

Old Marylebone Town Hall FAQs

Is there a waiting area or changing room?

A.There’s a small waiting area, but no formal changing rooms. You should arrive dressed and ready.

Can we bring pets to the ceremony?

A.No — only assistance dogs are allowed inside the building. Other pets are not permitted at ceremonies. If it's important for you to have your furry friend there, many other town halls are pet friendly so try Islington Town Hall or perhaps Camden Town Hall for a start.

Can we be interviewed separately so we can see each other for the first time in the ceremony room?

A.Yes — you can request to be interviewed separately by the registrars before the ceremony, allowing you to see each other for the first time during the entrance into the ceremony room. Just inform the team in advance.

Can we take photos inside the building?

A.Yes — photography is allowed inside, including in the ceremony room, grand staircase, and outside the front steps. Most couples bring a professional photographer, but guests are also welcome to take photos unless asked otherwise by the registrar during key moments.

Can we use confetti?

A.Yes — but only biodegradable confetti, and only outside the building. Confetti, petals, or rice are not allowed indoors.

Reception Venues: Marylebone and Surroundings

Stepping out of Old Marylebone Town Hall, you're right in the heart of central London, with charming streets, stylish venues, and iconic landmarks all around you. The area has an understated elegance, offering everything from historic pubs to fine-dining restaurants and intimate wine bars—ideal for any style of wedding celebration.

A favourite pre-ceremony spot for couples is The Landmark London, just around the corner. It’s perfect for a quiet drink before the ceremony, with its grand Winter Garden and relaxed bar. It also makes a beautiful backdrop for those all-important pre-wedding photos.

Right opposite the Town Hall on Marylebone Road, you’ll find The Ivy Café Marylebone—a chic and comfortable option for celebratory drinks or a small private meal after the ceremony. Another popular choice for stylish post-wedding dining is Orrery on Marylebone High Street. With its elegant rooftop terrace overlooking the church gardens, it’s ideal for a refined sit-down reception.

For more relaxed gatherings, The Marylebone Pub offers a classic British feel with private room options upstairs. Just a short walk away, Clarette—a beautiful wine bar housed in a Tudor-style building—offers intimate spaces for small groups and plenty of charm.

If you're planning a larger celebration, Carousel in nearby Fitzrovia is a modern, flexible space that works well for bespoke receptions with food, drinks, and dancing all in one place. For couples who want to keep the party going late into the evening, this is a great option.

On a more glamorous note, Chiltern Firehouse is less than a 10-minute walk and is known for its luxe interiors and beautiful courtyard. It’s one of the most exclusive spots in the area and perfect for a high-end, fashion-forward wedding reception.

For something totally different, couples sometimes hop in a classic car or Routemaster bus to take guests to The Langham, Sketch, or even a private room at Dean Street Townhouse in Soho.

Transportation: Getting There

Old Marylebone Town Hall is exceptionally well-connected. Baker Street tube station is a 3-minute walk away, served by multiple lines (Jubilee, Metropolitan, Bakerloo, Hammersmith & City, Circle), making it easy for guests arriving from all over London.

If you're planning to arrive in a classic car or taxi, drop-off is possible right outside the main entrance, and there’s a small slip road for waiting vehicles just beside the building. For guests driving in, there are paid parking bays on surrounding streets, but it's best to recommend public transport due to central London restrictions.

For those continuing celebrations elsewhere, you're within easy reach of Marylebone, Soho, and Fitzrovia, making it easy to hop between venues and extend the day into the evening.
